A Typical Week

What is a typical week like at Extreme Mayan Adventures?

All of our travel packages vary based on the individual desires and needs of our visitors and what is happening in the community when they arrive, so there is no schedule set in stone. That said, however, a typical week might look something like this:

  • Day 1 - arrival in Guatemala city
    • travel by microbus to Santa Catarina Palopó
    • meet your family
    • get settled in your room
  • Day 2 - visit an indigenous market, learn a tradition, language, and work
  • Day 3 - visit the caves in San Jorge, cultural learning, language, and work
  • Day 4 - visit a shaman, cultural learning, language, and work
  • Day 5 - learning about wild plants and their uses, trip to the mountains to forge for herbs to eat at dinner
  • Day 6 - cultural learning, language, and work, bonfire at night with the other tourists and Mayan families
  • Day 7 - return to Guatemala city
    • travel by microbus to a hotel (hotel not included in travel package) or the airport

Note: above is a general sketch of a typical one-week trip. Longer packages can be customized to have more specific focuses according to the desires of the traveler.
