Our Philosophy
(Socially Responsible)

We do everything at Extreme Mayan Adventures according to our goals and principles.

Our Goals:

  1. To fight poverty and social injustice with the principles of fair trade in order to aid the development of the community.
  2. To work towards the preservation of the Kaqchikel Mayan language and culture, to promote its values, and instill pride in the community.
  3. To offer travelers an authentic, and original experience connecting them with the culture (as opposed to having them interact as outside observers). We want to give travelers a trip they will never forget; something that is out of the ordinary, a once in a lifetime experience.

Our Philosophy:

Our philosophy is guided by our principles and beliefs. We strive to attain our goals with integrity and just practices.

  1. We believe that the culture, language, and lifestyle here is a resource that should be cultivated, protected, conserved, and respected just like any other resource.
  2. We work with people who reside in the village to assure that profits stay in the community to help with local development.
  3. We operate with transparency regarding what we charge, to inspire confidence in the travelers and Mayan families we serve.
  4. We pay just wages to our Mayan families, teachers, and cultural guides.
  5. We teach members of the community how to teach others and have pride in their culture.
  6. We work with people in the community who have the greatest economic need.
