Kaqchikel Maya

Guatemala is a diverse country with 21 different Mayan languages of which Kaqchikel is the second largest, surpassed only by Quiche. The Kaqchikel Mayan people live mostly in the Guatemalan departments of Chimaltenango and Sololá where they dedicate their time to a wide range of traditional arts, work, and traditions.

At Extreme Mayan Adventures in Guatemala we teach travelers Kaqchikel Mayan traditions through travel packages that offer total inmersion in the culture. Our travel packages are not typical. We place the traveler directly into the everyday life and work of a traditional Mayan family.
